Some of the most frequently asked questions on the server have to do with towny, plot, and residential permissions. I'm going to break up the permissions associated with each category for the sake of clarity. Terms to know: Groups Outsider - Anyone not in your town or nation. Ally - Anyone inside your nation. Resident/res - Any of your residents. Friend - Anyone you /res friend add [name]. Perms Build - Allow the ability to build. Destroy - Allow the ability to destroy. Switch - Allow the ability to use buttons, pressure plates, open chests, doors, etc. Itemuse - Allow the ability to use enderpearls, buckets, grapling hooks, etc. LEGEND: A : Perms for Ally is on O : Perms for Outsider is on R : Perms for Friend/Res is on - - - : All perms are off. Town Perms: Who has access? Owner & Co-Owners How do you view them? Type /t - it will display all the information regarding the town. You can view the permissions here as well. Associated commands: /t set perm [on/off] - Everyone can/can't do anything in the town that they could in the wild. [very bad idea] /t set perm ally [on/off] - Allies will/won't be able to switch, itemuse, build, and destroy in the town. [very bad idea] /t set perm res [on/off] - Residents will/won't be able to switch, itemuse, build, and destroy in the town. [moderately bad idea] /t set perm outsider [on/off] - Outsiders will/won't be able to switch, itemuse, build, and destroy in the town. [very bad idea] /t set perm [group] [perm] [on/off] - Allows you to change/customize the use of specific perms/groups. Plot Perms Who has access? Owners of the plot, friends, and all town staff. How do you view them? /plot perm (Raid Tip: Do this before raiding an area. If it shows as unregistered, it's unclaimed and therefore raidable as long as you follow the raidables list in the rules.) Associated commands: /plot set perm [on/off] - Everyone can/can't do anything in the plot that they could in the wild. (VERY BAD IDEA) /plot set perm ally [on/off] - Allies will/won't be able to switch, itemuse, build, and destroy. (VERY BAD IDEA) /plot set perm friend [on/off] - Residents will/won't be able to switch, itemuse, build, and destroy. (MODERATELY BAD IDEA) NOTE: PEOPLE OFTEN ARE CONFUSED BY THIS PERMISSION. EVEN IF IT'S A PUBLIC PLOT AND UNCLAIMED BY A PLAYER, YOU HAVE TO USE "FRIEND" INSTEAD OF "RES" FOR THE GROUP TYPE. /plot set perm outsider [on/off] - Outsiders will/won't be able to switch, itemuse, build, and destroy. (VERY BAD IDEA) /plot set perm [group] [perm] [on/off] - Allows you to change/customize the use of specific perms/groups. Res Perms Who has access? Owners of the plot, and all town staff. How do you view them? /res [name] /res NOTE: FRIEND PERMS ARE AUTOMATICALLY ALL SET TO ON SO THAT YOUR FRIENDS CAN HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR PLOT. YOU CAN HOWEVER LIMIT WHAT THEY CAN DO. SEE BELOW FOR DETAILS. Associated commands: /res set perm [on/off] - Friends can/can't do anything in the plot that they could in the wild. /res set perm [destroy/build/switch/itemuse] [on/off] - Allows you to change/customize the use of specific perms for your friends.
