It seems like the distance has been reduced from what it is in Vanilla. In Vanilla, it's 128, but it seems mobs stop spawning closer to the player. Any ideas what that range would be?

It could depend on the farm and animal.
However, Guardians don't like spawning when I get within 20 blocks of where they spawn. I don't think it's that they stop spawning but that they have a much lower chance of spawning, there's a difference.

I meant the range they can spawn within. I'm not too great at wording things sometimes. Normally it's a 128 block radius, but it doesn't appear to be the case on the server. On the server, that radius seems to be much smaller.

i believe mob spawns are reduced for lag, and the radius is probably reduced with it.
in terms of exact amounts i have no idea.

    hope this helps
