Hey all - Just wanted to draw everyone's attention to a small change in the rules. In the past we have said that an inactive player's belongings can be cleared after 14 days. Since incorporating the /clearplot plugin, which holds players items for 60 days, we found it necessary to change the 14 day rule to 60 days in order to make things fair for players who may have not locked their chests. This change will better reflect our current plugins which we encourage everyone to take advantage of. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us or leave a comment below. The rule is written as follows:
I have some questions 1.we have been clearing inactive plots with 14+ inactivity if someone comes online from before the rule was changed do we get punished for that ? 2.can plots with LOCKED chest still be cleared after 14 days ?
You can still use /clearplot, and you can still re-use plots. There's nothing stopping you from clearing a plot - you just have to store their items for 60 days, because that's the same amount of time that /clearplot uses. Some towns already have storage areas for inactive peoples items. 2 weeks is a very short amount of time considering most people take vacations for at least that long. At max, you'll be storing 3 people's items per plot, and chances are, new players don't typically have many items. We're accommodating for players, especially new ones. Nobody would want to have all their things wiped after 2 weeks of inactivity, and many players actually come back. This is just another factor and responsibility for town staff. It adds to towny, and encourages towns to not just add random new players for the sake of town claims only to dispose of their things shortly after, and prevents town staff from looting their residents chests.
We're currently re-discussing this change, and taking into account everyone's thoughts. We'll get back to you ASAP.
The rules have been reverted back to the original 14 day period, and an emphasis is being put on encouraging players to /lock their chests.
Town mayors shouldn't be stealing residents items while they are active, but once they go inactive there's nothing stopping them from taking those items.
