hey there my name's jaimie! i dont think anyone on the server knows who i am so i'm doing an intro lol i'm 17 years old and currently am a freshman enrolled at ucsd in california as a political science major. i was originally an art student but decided that with my dream of doing political cartooning it would probably be more meaningful if i learned more about the theory, rather than the aesthetics that i've spent my whole life executing anyways. i also teach english in korea during the summer and spend a lot of my time traveling. here are some random facts about me -ive played the piano for 14 years and violin for 8 -my favorite cartoon is steven universe -i've been vegan for around a year and a half now but i'm not sure how that'll go in college -i took french for two years in high school but all i remember is "escargot," the difference conjugations of "faire," and "sur la table" or something -i enjoy watching planet earth/other nature documentaries and have a lot of interest in environmental science -i spend a more time plotting on how i can get out of going to the dentist than i probably should -i'm pan -my fish named nacho died last week and i'm questioning whether or not cool ranch is even alive right now -i prefer juice over tea or coffee -someone please teach me how to redstone i'd love to make new friends so don't be afraid to message me or pm me in game
I love your intro, and wow you seem very disciplined when it comes to the arts. I used to be big into art but I hated taking the courses, [not so great at being told what to draw/make ] How many languages can you speak overall? I think a lot of people have that high school experience It's amongst my top life goals to be trilingual Welcome to the site and I look forward to seeing you around the server!
I don't think I've ever known someone who swapped from studying art to polisci to become a political cartoonist. I'd love to discuss your leanings and ambition in that realm sometime, especially since my goal is that one I've resigned from the police force I can pursue a life of public service.
Haha know the feel! Taking criticism was my biggest struggle in art. I can speak Korean, English, and you know, like 10 words in French and Spanish
It is a pretty weird change; Especially when I decided it one month before college applications. I trained all my life to do illustration/fine arts and commercial design and with the sudden change, I had to have a good academic standing, whereas most art schools didn't take your grades into consideration (Luckily my mother always made me have higher than average grades and exam scores). I'm surprised schools even accepted me. I really wanted to go to NYU because they were giving me hella money and I got into their Washington DC program but my parents wouldn't let me go out of state :/ and that sounds very interesting I'd love to talk about it sometime
